1. Service description

Powder Trace is a non-commercial, on-demand SMS utility that provides mountain-weather information in response to commands initiated by users. It is intended for situations where data service may be unreliable.

Powder Trace is informational only. It is not an emergency-alerting or life-safety service and should not be your only source for safety decisions.

2. Opting in

You opt in by texting START to Powder Trace from your phone. By doing so, you agree to receive SMS messages from Powder Trace. You will receive confirmation and command instructions. Message and data rates may apply.

3. Using the service

After opting in, you request forecasts by texting a supported command. Powder Trace sends one weather-information reply in response to that command.

Powder Trace sends no scheduled, marketing, promotional, or unsolicited messages. Message frequency varies entirely based on your requests.

4. Opt-out and help

Reply STOP at any time to disable further messages. You may receive one confirmation of the opt-out. Text START to re-enable the service.

5. Message content and availability

Messages contain mountain-weather information requested by you. The service, its data sources, and SMS delivery may be delayed, unavailable, incomplete, or inaccurate. Supported commands and availability may change.

6. Accuracy disclaimer

Forecast text may be summarized or formatted by an AI language model and may contain errors. Always consult official weather resources, carry appropriate equipment, and exercise your own judgment.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use automated requests to overload the service, attempt unauthorized access, or interfere with its operation. Access may be limited or disabled in response to abuse.

8. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for damages arising from use of, reliance on, or inability to use Powder Trace.
